Great Googly Moogly! Your are the James Brown of Blogging, the hardest working man on the Internet. I’m getting some serious inner conviction about my production rates. Keep up the good work. Inspiring.
“The James Brown of Blogging”, that’s a good one haha! We all feel bad when we compare ourselves with Ryan. He’s a beast.
Dude! Wow. What a roundup!! Thank you for this–totally inspiring. Keep up the great work!
Now I understand what you meant in all the interviews I listed to with you when you spoke about “finding time to write”!
Hey Ryan, just a heads up – your twitter link in the first paragraph is linking to: a 404 (https://ryanholiday.net/my-2014-mid-year-writing-roundup/www.twitter.com/ryanholiday)
I am always amazed at the fact that Ryan actually replies and interacts in the comments (or emails).
I have quite a bit of respect for people who do this. It doubles the work I am sure. But man, it feels like a real conversation.
It’s part of the job.
And yet hardly anyone does it.
Ryan, thanks for sharing these links. I’ve been reading the articles over the past few days. In particular, I’ve enjoyed the articles on reading and books (one of your articles inspired me to watch Ken Burn’s Civil War documentary: interesting even to a non-American).
Hey Ryan,
the amount of writing your getting done is incredible. I´m totally looking forward to seeing your roundup for the whole of 2014. I´m convinced it will be an epic list of actionable, precise information bits. Thanks!
WOW. I mean, when you hang in a “normal place” around “normal people” you always wonder about successful people and ask “how did they get there?”. I think one of the biggest problem is what I call my “10% improvement theory”.
The 10% improvement theory means that the vast majority of people will look around them, see what others “normal people” (aka “the majority”) are doing, then will do 10% better then that and stop, content of that advantage. The vast majority of people, including me up to a few years back, think in small increment: they don’t just realize that they can do whatever they want. The only limit we impose is ours. And the bar between being good and elite is so high that you need to think way way bigger.
So when i look at the amount of articles you wrote, I’m baffled. I would have thought that you’d write maybe 20, 30 articles per year, but ever that much. Imagine being surrounded by 10 friends that are like Ryan Holiday, how your “reality” would suddenly shift and how you would work so much harder, have much bigger goals.
That’s truly a great insight, thanks Ryan
